Richard Casino splits its poker offering into two main categories: video poker and live casino poker. Each one suits a different type of player, and both are accessible on desktop and mobile devices, including dedicated apps for iOS and Android.
Video Poker
The video poker section draws from providers like Microgaming, Betsoft, and 1x2Games. These are solo games where you play against the machine, making them perfect for players who prefer a quieter, strategy-focused session. Common variants you will find include:
- Jacks or Better
- Deuces Wild
- Joker Poker
- Aces and Faces
- Bonus Poker
- Multi-hand video poker variants
Video poker generally offers some of the best return-to-player percentages in any online casino, which is one reason it remains popular among experienced players. One thing to note at Richard Casino is that RTP figures are not prominently displayed in the game lobby, so you may need to check within each game's info screen or look up the provider's published rates separately.
Live Poker
For players who want that real-table atmosphere, Richard Casino offers live poker through Evolution Gaming. This is where things get interesting. You can join tables for Casino Hold'em, Three Card Poker, and Caribbean Stud Poker, all hosted by professional dealers streaming in real time.
| Poker Type | Format | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Video Poker | RNG, solo play | Strategy practice, low-stakes sessions |
| Live Casino Hold'em | Live dealer, real-time | Players wanting a social, immersive feel |
| Live Three Card Poker | Live dealer, real-time | Quick rounds, straightforward gameplay |
Using Bonuses on Poker at Richard Casino
The welcome package at Richard Casino offers up to NZD 10,000 and 500 Free Spins across five deposits. However, poker players should be aware of a few important details before diving in.
Free Spins are tied to specific slot games and cannot be used on poker. The cash bonus portion carries a 40x wagering requirement, and live games contribute at a much lower rate than slots. According to the loyalty programme details, you earn 1 comp point per NZD 400 wagered on live games compared to 1 comp point per NZD 50 on slots. There is also a maximum bet limit of NZD 10 while wagering bonus funds, and the cash bonus expires after 7 days.
If you are primarily a poker player, the weekly cashback promotion may be more practical. It returns 3% on net losses up to NZD 10,000 every week, processed on Mondays, with no restriction to specific game types.
Tips for Poker Players at Richard Casino
A few practical points that can save you time and frustration:
Withdrawals
Non-VIP players face relatively low daily and weekly withdrawal limits. If you hit a big session at the live poker tables, climbing through the 177-level loyalty programme helps increase those caps. Crypto withdrawals tend to process fastest.
Account Verification
Some players have reported delays with verification. Submit your documents early, ideally before you request your first withdrawal, so you are not waiting when you want your funds.
Mobile Play
Both video poker and live poker run smoothly on mobile. The Android APK is available directly from the Richard Casino website, while the iOS app can be found on the App Store. Live poker tables load well over a stable connection, though Wi-Fi is recommended over mobile data for uninterrupted sessions.
Is Richard Casino Good for Poker in New Zealand?
